About Ignite Nutrition
The Leading Registered Dietitians in Digestive Health
Founded in 2015, Ignite Nutrition started in Calgary, Alberta offering specialized nutrition counselling for digestive issues, women’s health, and food relationship. We help patients both young and old, and have adult and pediatric registered dietitians on our team.
Ignite Nutrition started with just one dietitian, our owner Andrea Hardy. As one of the top digestive health dietitians in the country, Andrea has created a business that has helped many people to manage their complex dietary dilemmas. We’ve grown now to be recognized as Canada’s Leading Digestive Health Dietitian Practice, and have incredible dietitians across Canada to see patients in:
- British Columbia
- Alberta, with in-person in Calgary
- Saskatchewan
- Ontario
- Nova Scotia
- Newfoundland & Labrador
- New Brunswick
- Yukon
- Northwest Territories
- Nunavut
We offer services virtually across Canada for those not located in Calgary.
At Ignite, we do things differently. Our registered dietitians are highly trained and recognized as leading experts in digestive health. Combined, our dietitians have over 50 years of experience! We work very closely beside your family doctor & gastroenterologist to ensure you get the best care possible. Not only because we provide up-to-date credible information, but because of HOW we provide it. We don’t just educate, we problem solve by asking the right questions.
We are a witness to your story.
Do you feel unheard in your nutrition questions, concerns & symptoms? You’re not alone. Personalized care starts with understanding the patient. Our team prides itself on practicing ‘connective communication’ to get to the root of what is most important to you in health and wellness. We want you to feel heard.
Roadmap to Your Care
Purpose driven counselling gives us direction. By understanding what you value about your health, we can create a roadmap for your care. We’re with you every step of the way.
Making an Impact
You know your body best. Our approach combines science with the power of intuition. Respecting your symptoms, relationship with food, and making health decisions that feel best for you. This approach will empower you to take charge of your health through education, counselling, building nutrition skills, and shaping behaviour change. We take a holistic, multidisciplinary approach to care – involving the team members that can get you where you need to be. Spark your journey to a healthier life with Ignite.
A Weight Neutral Approach
At Ignite, we practice with a weight neutral approach, informed partly by work in the Health at Every Size (HAES)® paradigm.
A weight neutral approach recognizes that while weight is often set as a health goal, health is so much more than that, and much is missing from the ‘weight loss’ conversation. Our goal is to improve client’s relationships with food by focusing on nutrition goals that fit within their lives, remove moral judgments around food, build awareness of hunger and fullness cues, and emphasize emotional and physical health – focusing on health behaviour change and health values – not a number on the scale.
HAES® is an evidence-based approach that challenges assumptions about the relationship between weight and physical health and supports individuals of all sizes in addressing health directly by adopting health behaviours, rather than manipulating weight.
HAES® emphasizes inclusive respect for every body, challenges scientific & cultural assumptions, and focuses on compassionate self-care.
