-
Where can I find the 3-day food record?
The FOOD RECORD for your initial assessment can be found here.
-
What is your cancellation policy?
We require 72 hours notice by phone for cancelled appointments. A late cancellation or a missed visit leaves a hole in the dietitians’ day that could have been filled by another patient. As a small local business, late cancellations cost our business enormously – up to $20,000 a year.
Appointments cancelled within 72 hours or that are missed will incur a cancellation fee of 50% of the appointment cost.
-
Do I require a doctor's note?
Dietitians services do not require a doctors note – self referrals are accepted!
-
Will my insurance cover me?
Many times dietitian services are covered – please check with your extended benefits provider! Regardless, they are considered a tax-deductible medical expense if they don’t end up being covered.
-
What counselling package is best for me?
The majority of clients are suited to our Make an Impact package. If you are not sure, we can discuss with you what package is best suited for you in your first visit. Take a look at all our packages and pricing here!
For certain diagnoses, different packages are required. For example: For IBS clients, The 4 Pillar Plan™ Package is required at minimum. This is in your best interest to ensure proper care and that you receive your nutrition therapy from start to finish.
For other conditions, less or more counselling may be suggested. however, this is something you and your dietitian will review on first visit.
-
Can I pay appointment by appointment?
Good news! Ignite has a la carte (per appointment) pricing. We don’t recommend ‘one-off’ appointments as we know from experience it isn’t conducive to successful nutrition interventions. However, we do offer single appointments for $190.

What's the difference between ‘nutritionist’ and ‘dietitian’?
In Alberta, there is no longer a difference! Nutritionist is a ‘protected title’ – meaning, only dietitians can call themselves nutritionists. This is to reduce confusion and keep the public safe.
Before Spring of 2017, anyone could call themselves a nutritionist and not require proper training, liability insurance, or credentials.
There is public perception that dietitians are ‘required to teach the food guide’, however this is NOT TRUE! Dietitians at Ignite provide holistic care, looking at a person’s lifestyle, food behaviours, beliefs, and personal motivations to ensure you receive the BEST care possible.
If you want to find out more about Ignite Nutrition’s practice philosophy and if we’re a good fit for you, check out our ‘About Ignite Nutrition’ page. (We’re kinda awesome.)

I’m not sure if I’m ready to see a dietitian. How should I make the decision?
We get it. Patients have often tried EVERYTHING or have had REALLY negative health care experiences before. Let us assure you – At Ignite, we do things DIFFERENTLY.
We care very much about finding clients that are a good fit. We want you to have the best experience possible, which is why our dietitians keep the blog active and are on social media!
We encourage you to check out our ‘About Ignite’ Page, which explains our health values, and helps you to better understand how we practice.
If you’re still not sure, just call us! We will connect you with one of our dietitians to hear a bit more about what you’re looking for and will know with one phone call if Ignite is the best fit for you. If we aren’t, that’s ok – Ignite is part of an amazing community of dietitians which we can refer you to.
